Manchester United captain Michael Carrick hopes he will be remembered as a genuine pro.

Carrick announced his retirement yesterday and was asked how he would like to be remembered as a player.

He replied: "Between now and the end of the season keep myself fit. You never know when you'll be needed hopefully I'll get some game time. I'm still enjoying training and being out with the boys.

"I try and help a lot more than in the past but just the age I'm at people like Scott trying to help them adapt.

"I would like to be remembered as someone that tried to do things the right way, known as a team player is important. I've given it my best tried all sorts of different things to bring out the best over the years so I have no regrets."
